Get Hired Fast - executive job searchHow many U.S. residents remain jobless? A whopping 12.1 million, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. That’s a huge number, and it represents a lot of competition as you conduct your executive job search.

But you can gain an edge in your efforts to make a professional job change by sending your applications in to those companies that are actually hiring.

Forbes staff writer Jacquelyn Smith recently wrote a feature story listing those companies that are adding to their payrolls even in these challenging times. Here’s a look at those businesses most likely to make your executive career change a successful one.

They’re Hiring Now

Number one on Smith’s list is telecommunications giant AT&T. According to the story, the company, as of October, was running 35,479 job listings. That’s a lot of opportunity for the right candidates.

Close behind and second on Smith’s list was Family Dollar Stores; not a surprise considering how frugal consumers are today. That business, as of October, had 23,769 active job listings.

Other Growing Companies

Number three on the list is Toys “R” Us, a retailer that not too long ago was suffering. Today, though, it’s growing, as its 17,073 job listings in October signify.

Fourth is healthcare provider Kindred Healthcare. Again, this isn’t too surprising. The medical field remains a strong one for jobs. After all, people need healthcare whether no matter who shaky the national economy. According to the Forbes story, Kindred had 14,233 active job listings in October.

Rounding out the top five of Smith’s list is Best Buy, another retailer that not too long ago was suffering through hard times. The electronics giant had 13,979 job listings in October.

Get in the Door

Your mission, as you conduct your executive job search? Target these companies if they’re a good fit for you. Remember, all five of these firms need a wide range of people. They don’t just need salespeople or home healthcare providers – they need accountants, attorneys, marketing pros, and engineers.
