Get Hired Fast – job prospect

Today’s job search is often a grueling one. Even though the nation’s unemployment rate has fallen to 7.7 percent, finding a job today is no easy task. But you can boost your job prospects by targeting those fields in which companies are actually hiring.

Companies are overwhelmed by applications every time they post an open position. The truth is there are still far too many people trying to find new jobs.

But this doesn’t mean that there aren’t any fields that are hiring today.

Here’s a quick look, courtesy of a recent report by the Kansas City Star, of those industries that are actually expected to grow in 2013.

Education on the Rise

Teachers are in demand thanks to a host of factors, including the rising number of brick-and-mortar universities that are now offering online classes.

Teaching isn’t the easiest job in the world. And those who want teach at the higher-education level will need an advanced degree. But, as the Kansas City Star story points out, many tutoring program and adult-education providers don’t require such advanced degrees.

Healthcare a Booming Field

It’s no secret that the country is getting older. Members of the Baby Boomer generation are starting to hit retirement age, after all.

And as the country ages, opportunities arise in the health care field.

Nurses, physical therapists, hygienists, and home health care aides are all in demand today.

These jobs can be physically demanding. Many require at least a two-year college degree. But opportunities are plentiful in this field. The pay, too, is usually solid.

Science and Tech Skills Wanted

You’ve probably heard the acronym STEM recently. That stands for science, technology, engineering, and math and those skills are exactly what a growing number of employers are looking for today.

According to the Kansas City Star story, 75 percent of all growth jobs today require at least some computer skills. So being proficient in the world of STEM is becoming a necessity for anyone hoping to make a professional career change today.

The challenge? Many STEM jobs require advanced degrees and specialized skills that not everyone has. Not everyone, for instance, has the skills or make-up to nab a career in electrical engineering.
